Just Roots is a community-based nonprofit and farm in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Our mission is to create equitable access to healthy, local food in Western Massachusetts, and to build just, vibrant, and sustainable farm and food systems everywhere. We operate one of the largest SNAP-enrolled CSA programs in the state and are a leader in Food is Medicine work. In partnership with healthcare organizations, we deliver fresh produce, proteins, cookware, and bilingual nutrition supports to hundreds of low-income households across nine counties. In 2024 alone, our work: Decreased food insecurity among participants by 89% Enabled 90% of CSA members to increase fruit and vegetable intake Directed over $700,000 to local farms, strengthening the regional food economy These outcomes demonstrate that equitable access to fresh, local food improves health and strengthens communities.
