Holyoke Art Inc. is a community-based nonprofit organization strengthening Holyoke, Massachusetts through arts, culture, creativity, and inclusive economic development. We create welcoming spaces where artists, youth, families, and small businesses can access affordable creative resources, participate in cultural programming, and build meaningful connections across the city and region. Our work includes operating the Print Shop, a community makerspace and production workspace that supports local creativity and small business growth while also providing youth entrepreneurship training and job and work-skills development for youth and adults. The Print Shop helps people gain hands-on experience, confidence, and practical skills while contributing to a vibrant creative economy in Holyoke. Holyoke Art also supports artists and the public through the ARTery, a downtown creative hub and marketplace for local artists, and the Splatery, a joyful, all-ages creative experience centered on process-based art, sensory play, and freedom of expression. Together, these spaces make creativity accessible, welcoming, and fun—especially for people who may not see themselves reflected in traditional arts institutions. Holyoke Art proudly serves as the nonprofit fiscal agent for Holyoke Pride, now entering its fifth year. What began as a single event has grown into a month-long series of celebrations that bring together LGBTQ+ residents, families, allies, artists, performers, local businesses, and community organizations from across Western Massachusetts. Holyoke Pride includes cornerstone events such as the Rainbow Run 5K, PrideFest, and community traditions like a Flag Raising, Brag Brunch, and a youth-centered Youth Prom, along with other gatherings throughout the month. These events create multiple entry points for participation and ensure Pride in Holyoke remains accessible, inclusive, and community-driven. Across all of our programs, Holyoke Art is guided by values of inclusion, equity, cultural celebration, and community power. We believe arts and culture are not extras—they are essential community infrastructure, and a powerful tool for belonging, opportunity, and local resilience.
