Candied Optimism is a MetroWest Massachusetts artisan confectionery making handcrafted fudge, toffee, marshmallows, and chocolate-covered pretzels in small batches from time-honored recipes. Founded by Meredith Elkins — a nonprofit marketing veteran with more than 25 years of experience — the company grew out of a lifelong passion for confectionery and a belief that it was time to turn that passion into something real. Launched through the Worcester Regional Food Hub's entrepreneurship program, Candied Optimism is built on a simple conviction: that optimism is an act of courage, not just a feeling, and that every box of candy should carry a little of that. Everything is handcrafted in small batches using ingredients chosen for quality, including real Ghirardelli chocolate and organic maple sugar from Vermont. Candied Optimism donates 10% of profits to social justice organizations, with the community helping to choose where the money goes.
